Our Story
As the cases of COVID-19 became rampant and progressed rapidly in the Philippines, masks were made essential and a must to the public health. In the middle of this pandemic outbreak, the campaign developed this initiative to reduce the alarming number of street people walking around without face masks.Regardless of local laws, some people continue to refuse to wear a mask or facial covering when they leave the house. Some complain that wearing face masks result to difficulty in breathing, some says it’s unfashionable and ruins their outfits, etc. Some also claims that they rather spend their money on food rather than in masks. This rationale piqued our interest, and we concluded that there is something wrong with how local communities are dealing with the pandemic.
Considering this problem, we came up with propose solutions. One is the issuing of warning to anyone caught outside without wearing a face mask. The initial warning will be verbal, and they will be protected and warned of the virus's risks using complimentary face masks. Community service would be the second and third warnings. The violation would clean up the area, raise awareness, and educate everyone about the infection and the risks they face every time they go outside. People will not only be encouraged to always wear a mask for their own safety, but they will also assist the community in maintaining a healthy and disciplined environment. Above all, wearing a mask can protect someone you care about. Only one individual infected in a household can transmit the virus back home, potentially infecting an elderly or immunocompromised family member. It's not worth putting mum or dad, grandma or grandpa, in the hospital for a maskless visit to the store, restaurant, or party. We believe that public safety is in our hands, and that we must all act together to defeat the virus while remaining safe and secure. We all have a role to play in promoting public health in our communities – to take care of ourselves and each other.
